Built in 1873, the Colin C. Baker was a 3-masted schooner partially owned and captained by Browning K. Baker of West Dennis (Mass.). Stephen Smith is known as the creator of the rolltop desk. He was born in Barnstable, Mass. in 1805 to James and Bethiel (Ryder) Smith.
